WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BE A PERSONAL TRAINER?
Nearing the end of my football career I began to act as a mentor to younger players. Being able to pass on the knowledge I’d built up over the years gave me a huge amount of satisfaction. I now get that same feeling from training my clients. Exercise has the ability to be such a powerful tool – not only do I get to help people build strength and become healthier but I get to see the change in them mentally. Knowing I’ve been a part of their journey every step of the way is the most rewarding part.
WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED IN THE GYM?
I constantly set goals for myself week in week out. I’m very competitive and always want to push myself and be the best I can be.
WHAT CERTIFICATES, ACCREDITATIONS, CERTIFIED COURSES HAVE YOU COMPLETED?
Diploma in Fitness, Diploma in Nutrition, Boxing Instructor Level 2, Kettlebell Instructor Level 2, Myofascial Release Level 1, Strength and Condition Level 1
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE AND LEAST FAVOURITE EXERCISES?
Anything to do with legs have to be included in my favourite exercises! You know the saying, ‘never skip leg day’. My least favourite would have to be overkill on cardio. I find it very boring just running on a treadmill for long periods of time (I think there are far more exiting ways to achieve the same results).
THERE ARE SO MANY PERSONAL TRAINERS TO CHOOSE FROM, WHAT SETS YOU APART?
Whenever someone asks me this question, my reply is always ‘come train with me for 45 minutes and you’ll find out’. The concentration and effort I give in every session and program I design is like it’s my first. The tenacious mindset that was drilled into me as a young elite athlete has stuck with me and now plays a major part in how I train people.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MAIN ROADBLOCK TO PEOPLE ACHIEVING THEIR FITNESS GOALS?
Themselves. You can be your own worst enemy if you think you’re not ready for the tough road ahead.
WHATS YOUR PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT?
I can’t decide between two! Achieving my childhood dream of signing my first professional football contract or being awarded Virgin Active’s Number 1 Asia Pacific Personal Trainer.
HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR CLIENTS MOTIVATED?
I become their mentor and coach. Communication is a key part of this role – my clients update me on their training regularly and I make sure they’re always on track to reach their goals. I teach them to make their training a lifestyle rather then a chore.
WHAT’S YOUR POST WORKOUT ROUTINE?
A big steak! I love to incorporate all macronutrients through solids.
WHY DID YOU CREATE THE SIX WEEK ATS BODY TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE?
I wanted to create a positive community where people from all around the world can utilise a proven formula that’s going to allow them to push their fitness to the next level and improve their lives.
WHAT’S THE BEST BIT OF ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED ABOUT FITNESS?
Things don’t just happen overnight! Everything takes time and we must be consistent and patient.
